MyColortopia Color Quiz

Choosing a paint color is one of the most impactful ways to change the look of a room.  Of course, with so many paint color options out there, it can be overwhelming to figure out which color to use.  I love all colors, so it's always hard for me to find a starting point because I'd be open to practically any color of the rainbow.

The awesome people at Glidden have put together a fun color quiz to help ease the paint picking process.  And who doesn't love a good introspective quiz!  You answer a few questions about yourself and then the quiz provides some colors you might like based on your answers.

Based on my quiz answers, my color results are cheerful and bright.  I selected the Lemon Ice color as my top choice and from there the quiz suggested a coordinating palette of paint colors.

You can take the My Life, My Colors quiz right here!  (If you're reading this from a blog reader, you may need to click over to my site to see the quiz below).

You can find even more color inspiration at MyColortopia.com which is full of great painting advice and color inspiration from some amazing bloggers!  What color suggestions did you receive?

Note:  I have been sponsored by Glidden brand paint to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Pillow Talk

I am long overdue in sharing some updates for how last year’s New Diyears resolution to-do list went.  Despite my delay in updates on what went down  last year, I surprisingly got a lot of my to-do list done.  One of my checked off items is sewing new family room pillows.

I wanted to bring in the color green as an accent in my family room so I started by sewing new pillows.  I found a fun green pattern print at Joann Fabrics and bought a couple of yards, using a 40% off coupon of course, and got to work.

This was my first time sewing pillows from scratch since probably middle school, but I’m happy at how the results turned out.  I wanted to make sure these pillows would be durable so I sewed an insert pillow out of cheap white fabric first and then used the green fabric to make the pillow covers.  I sewed an envelope style back so the pillow inserts could be slipped out and the covers could be washed if needed.  I made sure to wash and dry the green fabric before sewing to ensure the fabric didn’t shrink during future washes.

I think the pillows are pretty cute and they are comfy too.  I even got a pup stamp of approval.  (Although he’s giving me a look like “stop with the paparazzi, I’m trying to snooze here.”)

They do make a good make for a good napping spot.

The pillows go well with the argyle sweater pillow I sewed last winter too.

And they match perfectly with the quatrefoil tray I painted for the family room too.

I think with these pillows, and the vintage tea towel pillow and placement pillows I made last year, I can safely cross off “sew new pillows” from my to-do list!

1982 Trivia (30th Birthday Party Quiz)

Last year when my hubby turned 30, I shared the 1981 trivia quiz that I had made for his birthday party and boy am I flattered at the response!  The 1981 trivia became a big hit on Pinterest and I got many emails requesting a copy of it. But since it's 2012 now, people turning 30 this year (or celebrating their 30th school reunion or anniversary) , are born in 1982, not 1981.  So I decided to update the quiz and answers for 1982.

To make it easier for everyone, instead of emailing me for a copy of the quiz, I've made the 1982 trivia downloadable.  The first page contains the 1982 trivia and the second page is the answer key (remember to only print one copy of the key).

Feel free to print and use this trivia to your heart’s content, but please follow this blog first, then you can download this 1982 trivia here.  Enjoy!
