New York City Christmas Lights & Sights

I'm lucky enough to live less than two hours away from New York City so this past weekend I took a very fun day trip to New York to see the big city decked out in its finest Christmas attire.  Apparently I wasn't the only one with this idea and midtown Manhattan was the most crowded I had ever seen it with tons of people everywhere trying to take in the city's sights.

The crowds didn't stop us from having fun though and we went to Bryant Park to check out the holiday shops and see their Christmas tree.  The Bryant Park tree was lit up with beautiful blue lights.

We also saw another rather famous Christmas tree...the Rockefeller Plaza Christmas tree!  The streets around Rockefeller Plaza were closed to traffic to accommodate the swarms of people who came to get a look at the 74 foot Norway Spruce tree.  The tree was beautifully decorated with 30,000 colorful sparkling lights.

It took workers 18 days to put up the Rockefeller Center Tree.  Check out this cool time lapse video of the Rockefeller Christmas Tree if you want to watch what 18 days of work looks like in one minute!  (Click over to my site if you're reading this post in a Blog Reader and would like to see the video).

I really enjoyed seeing New York dressed for the Holidays!  What holiday events are going on in your neck of the woods?
