Our Second Wedding Anniversary

Today is a special day in the DIY Newlyweds household…it’s our two year wedding anniversary!  We can still call ourselves newlyweds, right?  Newlyweds is a state of mind, if you ask me, so I plan to stick with the name. Besides, the DIY Old Married Couple doesn’t have quite the same ring to it!

This year, we celebrated our anniversary with a trip to the Jersey shore.  We lucked out with beautiful weather and had a great time taking a stroll on the beach and a bike ride on the boardwalk.  The beach was gorgeous and there were even some people laying out on the sand, but compared to the summertime crowds it was mostly empty and serene.

I took my camera tripod with us so we could snag a few romantic photos.

We took a walk on the beach at sunset, so I was able to get a photo of our shadows on the beach:

Today, our actual anniversary day, we celebrated with some cake at home.  And to continue a tradition we started on our first anniversary, we also relit our unity candle.

If you love weddings, stay tuned this week for some looks at our nuptials two years ago.  In the meanwhile, you can check out some of our DIY wedding ceremony projects and DIY reception projects.

How do you celebrate your wedding anniversary?  Any special traditions?

Happy Anniversary!

Relighting your unity candle is very romantic and serves as a reaffirmation of your commitment and love.

Here's to many more years of being a newlywed! La
